As everyone who’s ever played it knows, the Resident Evil Remake is the best horror game ever made. Which is why it was so exciting to see it pop up on the PC this month in shiny HD, with improved lighting, controls that don’t feel like you’re reversing a stubborn hippo around a supermarket aisle, and backgrounds so sharp you could cut your eyeballs on them.
Which is all very nice on its own, but the really exciting thing about having the game on PC is that it’s now a prime target for the endlessly creative modding community. From mods that restore the joyously terrible voice acting from the original 1996 game, to stylish new threads for Chris and Jill to wear (and presumably get covered in zombie juice), we’ve gathered up a list of the best mods currently available for Resident Evil HD. Enjoy!
Description: Helena Harper is an agent of the United States Secret Service that first appeared in Resident Evil 6. We know right, Resident Evil 6 probably isn’t a favourite among Resident Evil fans, but at least you can bring Helena over to experience some real survival horror with this model by Kernelzilla. Note: Make sure you play as Jill once you’ve installed it!
Description: Ada Wong first appeared in the brilliant Resident Evil 2, but now thanks to EvilLord, you can use this model to play as her in Resident Evil Remastered. Again, you’ll want to start with Jill if it’s going to work.
Description: This battlesuit for Jill first appeared in Resident Evil 5, although we think it looks great in this model by ZombieAli2000. Do you agree? There’s a few issues like the neck clipping through the back of the body, but a fix is being worked on.
Description: Chris Capel had a little moan about this in our review, but thanks to a modder named FluffyQuack you can now skip all door animations in the game! As you can see in the video below, it really does cut the time down quite a bit. You could argue that this will take away from the atmosphere, but we’re sure plenty of people will find it useful.
Description: With this model we can play as Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil Remaster, although we admit that Barry might have a bit of a shock when he realises there’s two Albert Wesker’s in the hall at the beginning! The creator Kyle wants to add animations and sounds in the future, so it’ll be even better.
Description: Imagine if Leon first appeared in Resident Evil? That would be pretty cool right? Here he is thanks to ZombieAli2000 with his Resident Evil 4 outfit! You’ll have to start a game with Chris for this to work
Description: Here’s a skin from Mr. Scratch that gives Jill a red stars outfit, which we think looks just as good as the Capcom skin. Make sure you put the file in the game’s folder if you want this one to work.
Description: Some players have been experiencing issues with some of the music tracks in the game, where they’ll be playing too fast, which can break up the important atmosphere of the game. Here’s a fix for this probem from Bunny.

In the meantime, have fun, avoid giant spiders, and remember to set fire to every zombie corpse you leave behind. Seriously, that last tip’s pretty important.
