Venom Games was founded in 2003 in Newcastle upon Tyne and was acquired by Take-Two Interactive in 04. The studio is to shutdown at the end of this month for good.
They were responsible for Xbox360’s version of Prey, for Rocky: Legends on Xbox and PS2 and was apparently asked first to head up the BioShock PS3 development.
I admit, until right now I had never ever heard of these guys but one thing is for sure - another closure of a UK based developer is sad news indeed for Britain.
”Venom Games are a part of the Take Two Interactive group of companies, developing exclusively on the next generation of consoles for the 2K Games label. We are currently 2K Games’ only UK-based development studio,” reads the official Venom blurb.
Most recent the Venom team had finished working on the Xbox360 version of Don King’s Prizefighter. There’s been no word from 2K Games about the decision to close down the studio.
