In response to Activision’s CEO Robert Kotick’s talk at the Morgan Stanley conference in California, Blizzard has issued a rebuff to the in-game advertising claim for RTS StarCraft II.
They say there will be no advertising put into the game and that Kotick was no doubt referring to the online service Battle.Net, which does already operate online advertising.
Blizzard: ”We have no plans to have in-game advertising in StarCraft II. We believe Bobby was actually referring to Battle.net, which has always included ads.”
Many fans I’m sure of both StarCraft and Blizzard will be happy to hear this from the developer, in-game advertising is still a grey issue for the industry at the moment with a general animosity toward it.
