While we were just seeing how PC gaming has been falling out of fashion, with games like Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 getting staggering low numbers and most developers claiming that PC’s are becoming simply internet and World of Warcraft tools, there is still hope.
Officially announced at GDC today was the uniting of a huge list of software and hardware publishers, including Microsoft, ActiBlizzard, Intel, AMD, NVidia, and many more. The organization will be headed by Randy Stude from Intel and is creating quite a buzz because of all the partners in it.
With such software like Steam currently in use, which rivals Sony’s PlayStation Network and Microsoft’s Xbox Live on the 360, there is clearly hope for the oldest of gaming machines. Thankfully we won’t be seeing too much of Xbox Live on the PC anymore, meaning no more paying for their services (unless you want to) to play PC games online with bonuses. The details are still a bit sketchy, but this news comes straight off the presses.
