During an interview between Ubi’s North American president Laurent Detoc and Forbes, he reveals they plan to hold off Altair’s return for now.
Assassin’s Creed was greeted with diverse opinion. Detoc says that when they do announce a sequel there’ll be ”more anticipation for it.”
The publisher is much healthier now financially and so employs a much more relaxed schedule for game releases to help spur demand among fans, at least that’s what the article implies reports Kotaku.
Here’s an excerpt from the Forbes article:
The last two titles sold well, but didn’t match the sales of the first game. So Ubisoft decided to pull back production and launch its next “Prince of Persia” this winter, in hopes of creating demand for it. “As we get bigger, we can give it more breathing room,” Detoc says.
”We just did ‘Assassin’s’ and are sitting on top of the world, but we have to come back to reality very quickly because you’re only as good as your last product,” he says. “Don’t drink the Kool-Aid too much; we’re going have to defend our position.”
Assassin’s Creed was released on Xbox360, PS3 and recently on the PC.
