Formula One 2010’s executive producer Gavin Raeburn has said that multiplayer is just as crucial as the ”single-player experience,” for them anyway.
Choice for players is important, letting fans play ”with like-minded players” is major as arcade types won’t mix well with hardcore sim nuts. Plans to have ”drama”, ”rivalry” and ”glamour”.
The perception of Formula One for the average citizen is that it’s boring, like really boring to watch and the developers know this. ”I think the problems of previous F1 games are well documented, and they’ve led to a perception that F1 videogames have to be dry and boring,” said Raeburn.
”I love the drama and the rivalry and the glamour of Formula One, and we’ve got big plans for how we can make these things part of the experience.” Throw-downs in the pit mid-race?
Single-player is fine and all but these F1 fans are going to want to brag. ”The online component of the game is as important as the single-player experience,” Raeburn told OXM.
”Key to this is enabling players to find and play with the right people. If you’re an arcade fan playing F1 online then you probably want to play with like-minded players in shorter races, rather than end up in a hardcore sim session doing qualifying and full-length races!”
Is Formula One a bit of a snooze fest for you, videogamer?
