Crackdown 2 has been given a Mature rating by the ESRB, and for good reason. It’s got corpses that ”burst apart” or even catch fire. That’s rad!
The ratings board certainly knows how to dangle some juicy morsels in front of us poor gamers who must continue to wait for this sequel goodness. Who doesn’t want to see a soldier’s arm severed by a chopper’s rotor blades?
Here’s the ratings summary from the ESRB:
”This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a special agent sent to eradicate a city of mutant-infected humans known as “Freaks.” Players shoot the humanoid creatures by launching rockets, tossing shrapnel grenades, and shooting at them, leaving behind piles of bloody bodies that sometimes burst apart or catch on fire.”
”Some cutscenes depict innocent civilians being attack by the creatures, such as a news reporter being mauled on live TV. In one scene, a soldier jumps into spinning helicopter blades to stop the aircraft; his severed arm is flung across the screen along with other bloody chunks.” …Oscar worthy material right there.
”Additionally, characters often use language such as “f*k,” sht,” and “a*s” within the game.” Presumably this level of sass mouth is part of Agency training, and so totally integral to the narrative and in no way uttered for fun or any form of enjoyment.
Are you looking forward to the ”Blood and Gore, Strong Language, Violence” of Crackdown 2 when it releases exclusively for Xbox 360 this year, videogamer?
