Despite Namco being disappointed with the game’s sales - they’d expected at least 1M sales - they are still interested in producing a sequel.
Namco’s other reported sales have some interesting results. Tekken 6 sold 1.1M units in the US in 2011 - despite a 2009 launch. The increased sales could have been due to the launch of the fighting stick bundle which was price cut in the US this 2011.
Otherwise, Namco’s financial feature is looking bright. Sales were up 4.1 per cent, and operating income was up a whopping 767.3 per cent. The PlayStation 3 was Namco Bandai’s biggest platform. It sold just over 5.5 million units on Sony’s console, a million ahead of the units sold on the PlayStation Portable. The company sold just over three million Xbox 360 games, just under three million Wii games, and just under four million Nintendo DS games.
