Darksiders II had been in development a long time before getting a 26th June release date in February. While THQ CEO Danny Bilson insists that the game will be ready by that date, he won’t hesitate to delay it if the game isn’t ready yet.
In an interview, Bilson stated, “Darksiders II is looking really, really good. It’s a huge game. We’re going to give that team everything they need to make it as good as it can be. The team is working really, really hard. We’re not going to ship it before it’s done.”
Darksiders II has been overshadowed by THQ’s recent financial issues, so Bilson claiming he would delay the game in a heartbeat has caused some to ponder whether the game is suffering a troubled development period.
Bilson said unequivocally that THQ’s business problems won’t affect Darksiders II. “Honestly, no one who was on any critical path on Darksiders was let go, and no one was let go before they finished their tasks on Darksiders,” he insisted.
“There’s absolutely no compromise on the Darksiders product whatsoever. That was a high priority for us,” Bilson concluded.
Darksiders II is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in June, and Wii U at a later date.
