Gaijin Games has announced that Bit.Trip Runner 2, which had been due to be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network sometime in “early 2012”, will be delayed until November 2012. The game is a HD updated “semi-sequel” to the WiiWare title that was released in 2010.
While Gaijin Games artist Mike Roush didn’t state any reasons for the delay, he did admit that a Wii U version of the game was ”definitely” being considered, adding, ”My guess is we will always be with Nintendo. Everyone at Gaijin Games is a Nintendo fanboy, so we will most likely continue that relationship in the future. We would never leave Nintendo, we love them to death.”
”We’re close to half-way”, answered Roush when asked how much of the game was finished.
What’s next for Gaijin? The developer is toying around with the idea of a “Metroidvania” version of Bit.Trip.
”We’ve been joking around for years about making ‘BitTroid’ - a mash-up of Bit.Trip and Metroid. We’ve never thought about it seriously but we talk about it often. It would be something we’d love to do. We’d need to get a sub-team focused on that and do it in the old Bit.Trip style,” revealed Roush.
