Speculation has the studio looking to revive the iconic PC RTS series Warcraft. Blizzard has filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum in an attempt to be ‘given’ the domain.
If successful this mean the studio avoids having to pay a hefty wad of cash. It seems the current owner resides within the United Kingdom. Will Blizzard use the domain?
Heroes of Warcraft was the originally intended name for Warcraft III, which eventually became Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. In order to be awarded the rights to the domain Blizzard must satisfy three criteria, reports Fusible:
style=greyItalic that the disputed domain name registered by the Respondent is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark or service mark in which the Complainant has rights; and
(2) that the Respondent has no rights or legitimate interests in respect of the disputed domain name; and
(3) that the disputed domain name has been registered and is being used in bad faith
Blizzard’s case number with the National Arbitration Forum is 1470639.
