VP of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer made some eyebrow-raising comments during an interview with AusGamer, seemingly hinting that the company is looking into crossplatform gameplay between the Xbox One and PC, stating it ”makes a lot of sense.”
“This connected ecosystem across all the different devices is definitely where I think the future of gaming is going; you don’t have to do it as a developer, but you have the capability and I think a system like Xbox Live across all those screens where you know who someone is and who their friends are, what their Achievements are and their progression is really critical to that,” Spencer was quoted in the interview.
Games for Windows Live is being discontinued in its current form, but it doesn’t mean Microsoft doesn’t have plans for bringing Live to PC in another way, which would be required for crossplatform play.
Hopefully, this time Microsoft does it right.
