Borderlands 2 has been made available for SteamOS, and Valve has confirmed that spin-off Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released alongside it when it launches on October 14.
SteamOS is Valve’s new Linux-based operating system. Though it’s mainly intended for the launch of next year’s Steam Machines, the Beta version is available for free on any PC right now.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is Gearbox’s spin-off game set slightly before Borderlands 2. Set on the villainous mega-corporation Hyperion’s lunar base, it stars a squad of anti-heroes including series regular Claptrap, who’s playable for the very first time.
To celebrate the news, Borderlands 2 is currently available for 75% off on Steam. The offer ends October 2 at 10am PDT.
