The Los Angeles DICE studio is made up of former Danger Close staff, which created Medal of Honor. DICE LA helped out with Second Assault which launched late last month.
It should come as little surprise that DICE is kicking their DLC duties out to satellite studios given their plate is full with Mirror’s Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront.
For a time work on the expansions was halted as DICE scrambled to fix the glaring issues with Battlefield 4 on all platforms, with its PlayStation 4 debut quite an embarrassing escapade for the once lauded developer. Now sadly the DICE and Battlefield brands have been damaged among fans.
“DICE Stockholm is doing Naval Strike, everything else will be done by DICE LA,” revealed a DICE developer on Reddit.
DICE Stockholm handing over the reins of DLC to their LA counterparts doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence. Let’s hope this means the primary studio continues to take Battlefield 4 issues as seriously and doesn’t just wind down support in favour of jumping to their other projects. Can Star Wars: Battlefront succeed where Battlefield stumbled?
