Star of Lord of the Rings and King Kong (amongst a host of other films) Andy Serkis will voice the antagonist Guy Gisborne in Mike Bithell’s Volume, a stealth game loosely based on the tale of Robin Hood.
Serkis, who amusingly enough wasn’t in Shadow of Mordor but finds time for a relatively small budget indie game, will play a villainous corporate executive in Volume’s near future version of London.
The casting was revealed at the Gisborne Industries Launch event in Nottingham last Friday, and a couple of pictures of Serkis’ character were also released. Serkis joins Charlie McDonnell as hero Rob Locksley, and Danny Wallace of Assassin’s Creed and Thomas Was Alone as Locksley’s AI companion Alan.
Creator Mike Bithell, also responsible for cult hit Thomas Was Alone, was understandably rather chuffed about securing the veteran actor for the role. “Andy ruddy Serkis (this will be the next few days for me, I’m afraid),” he tweeted.
Volume is set for release on PS4 and Vita first, with a PC version to follow on a month later.
