Bethesda’s latest trailer for The Evil Within studies both traps and enemies, and provides ample reason not to go near either of them. And you thought zombies were bad.
Detective Sebastian Castellanos not only has the rampaging ‘Haunted’ to avoid, but unstoppable monsters like the box-headed ‘Keeper’ and horrific, multi-limbed ‘Laura’.
The Keeper carries around the brains of his victims in a big sack. If you don’t want the contents of your head added to that sack, you’ll have to think fast and avoid his instant-kill hammer and barbed wire traps. The latter can be turned into ammuniton for your trusty crossbow if you’re fast enough - personally I’d rather not do that while a demonic madman cahrges at me with a hammer, but needs must.
The Evil Within looks like the attention-seeking gore obsessed cousin to fellow survival horror Alien: Isolation, also released this month. It’s funny to see two big titles that nominally share a genre approach things so very differently.
The Evil Within will be released on October 14 for PC and consoles. Check out the minimum required specifications here.
