Aw, man. I was looking forward to another bout of neon-soaked violence backed by an awesome synthpop soundtrack, but Dennaton Games has confirmed that Hotline Miami 2 has been pushed back to “late 2014 or early 2015”.
Technically the sequel never had a set date beyond Q3 2014, which is sort of over now anyway, but there was a hope that we’d see it before December and certainly before next year. That might not be the case now.
”Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is still getting some final tweaks and polish, expected to be ready for late 2014 or early 2015,” the developers wrote on the game’s Twitter account. They followed that up by saying; ”Your patience is appreciated and will ultimately be rewarded with everything you hoped for and nothing like what you expected.”
Which is an interesting thing to say, but in all honesty I’d be happy with exactly what I’m expecting - more perfectly designed, lightning-fast combat in which I can hit someone in the face with a frying pan until their head explodes. I’m not a difficult man to please.
Let’s remind ourselves what we’re looking forward to with another look at a recent trailer, which also shows off Hotline Miami 2’s level editor.
