It does sort of wind me up when companies do this. Overkill Software, the team behind crime caper game PayDay 2, has posted a countdown timer on their website that’s set to run down in around a month.
There’s also some audio in the background with what sounds like two office workers talking about toilet seats. I’ve no bloody idea either.
What might it be? Well, the safe option is to always assume something utterly unremarkable that deserves no such marketing hype. I remember a similiar countdown thing in the run up to E3 last month that ended up being some berk in a helmet doing a web-show. At least this one’s directly from a developer, so it could mean more PayDay 2 content or an announcement of a PS4/Xbox One version (snore), or something new entirely.
Some folks, like the chaps over at PC Gamer, have noticed that Overkill’s long-planned ”co-op sci-fi shooter” Storm is still listed over at Starbreeze, the company which acquired the studio back in 2012. Rumours have emerged before of a kind of space-age PayDay 2 , so that might be one potential answer.
I guess we’ll see in a month. If it’s just a new map pack or something I’m going to throw my computer out the window. Don’t mess about, Overkill.
