In a slightly unorthodox move, Io Interactive have announced via a website news post that they are working on a new Hitman game for next-gen consoles and PC.
”Dear Hitman fans,” reads the post. ”We wanted to share this open letter with all of you out there eagerly awaiting more news about what’s happening next in the franchise. At Io-Interactive right now, we are building the next AAA Hitman game for PC and next-gen consoles.”
The post goes on to confirm a few details about the game. It will use the same engine as Hitman: Absolution as a backbone, and will apparently have the largest levels the series has ever seen.
”In the next game you will experience a globetrotting Agent 47 at the prime of his career,” the post continues. ”The apex predator stalking his prey across the world, with the support of his long-term handler Diana Burnwood and the whole of the ICA.”
Contracts mode is also back, with players able to create execution challenges within the game’s maps and share them with the world.
More info is coming this year, we’ll keep our eyes open. Are you excited by the news?
