The very long-awaited addition of Heists for GTA Online, the free online counterpart to Grand Theft Auto V, has finally been given trailer by Rockstar. Even better is the early 2015 window for the events.
The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is due in late January so PC gamers won’t need to wait much longer hopefully. Our pain has already been to wait for Xbox One and PS4 to get theirs first.
”… Our initial attempts at Heists turned out to be a lot of fun for one or two players while other players were getting left on the sidelines,” remarked mission designer Imran Sarwar from Rockstar. Heists require four players to be ranked 12 and over to qualify.
The leader of a Heist must choose their team and assign roles for each. The jobs are given by Lester, who is also involved in the heist missions of GTA V. Each member of the group must agree on a cut as well as giving some cash up front perhaps in order to get kitted out for the job.
Heists are multi-tiered and need to be prepared for, like acquiring getaway vehicles, entry points and so on. There’ll be 5 Heist ‘strands’ at launch for GTA Online, which equate to over 20 missions worth about an hour each, says Sarwar. Pulling these Heists off in a certain way will yield specific rewards.
Grand Theft Auto V releases on PC January 27th. Rockstar has a tongue-in-cheek remark in the trailer, as Lester tells us he knows we’ve been complaining but ‘we weren’t ready’.
