Original X-COM creator Julian Gollop has taken to Kickstarter with Chaos Reborn, which he is calling ”part sequel, part re-imagining” of the original ‘Chaos’ published by Games Workshop in the mullet-era of 1985.
Its magic system ”remains true to the original” Chaos as we summon the weird and mythical to fight with us, buffing and debuffing with powerful spells. Reborn will include multi and solo play.
Right now they’ve got a multiplayer prototype working with about a third of the game’s spells, but co-op play and a full single-player RPG adventure awaits.
Chaos Reborn is all about wizards duking it out in arenas with limited spells at their disposal. It’s a turn-based and fast-paced strategy with battles usually between 10 to 30 minutes. They’re using the Unity Engine to bring the game to life with 80 unique spells and 24 creatures. Arenas are procedurally generated with various terrain and elevation.
Check out the Chaos Reborn Kickstarter for more which seeks $180,000 with 30 days to go. They’re already near 10% of their goal from just over 400 backers. They also plan a ”vast single-player RPG experience” called Realms of Chaos.
