Despite some unfortunate bugs and unremarkable boss fights, CI Games’ action fantasy RPG Lords of the Fallen was really rather enjoyable.
Here’s some good news then; CI’s executive producer Tomasz Gop has posted on Facebook to confirm that “ conceptual work on Lords of the Fallen 2 is underway.”
Hitting the sweet release spot just before a tide of triple-A games poured forth in November, Lords of the Fallen seems to have performed reasonably well for CI. Gamespot reported that the game went into profit as early as November 7, so it’s not hugely surprising to see the studio already planning a follow-up.
If CI can make the levels a bit less cramped and awkward (dodgy camera issues were the main problem I had with the game), and tidy up some of the technical glitches, Lords of the Fallen has all the makings of a very decent little series. I was expecting little more than a poorly though-out copy of Dark Souls, but I thought Fallen actually offered a viable alternative. Nowhere near the masterpiece that is From Software’s game, of course, but worthy of respect.
Lords of the Fallen 2 being in the conceptual stage means we likely won’t hear anything about it for a good while, but we’ll keep an eye out for any further nuggets of information.
