LucasArts closed down last year following purchase by Disney who now controls Star Wars, and Star Wars 1313 was scrapped. It was to feature fan-favourite Boba Fett.
This new Star Wars game showed a great deal of promise for LucasArts after the so-so performance of The Force Unleashed, which explored between Episode III and IV.
Star Wars 1313 was about bounty hunters, an often unexplored profession in Star Wars except for certain books in the Extended Universe series. It drew a lot of attention as we’d be exploring the deep corruption-rife levels (1313) of Coruscant, in a very visual rich game engine built at LucasArts.
Disney inked a deal with EA and they now have ten years to produced licensed games on behalf of Disney, and have already unveiled DICE’s return of Star Wars: Battlefront, but are working on others as well.
