Triumph Studios’ turn-based fantasy title Age of Wonders 3 is getting its first expansion pack on September 18.
Called Golden Realms, the new DLC will add a new playable race, story campaign, several new scenarios, fifty new magical artifacts and a couple of new specialisations, amongst other treats.
Golden Realms’ campaign has you helping a band of Halfling survivors rebuild their lost empire, while trying not to get them all killed by a mysterious ancient evil. Age of Wonders 3 was a really solid, fun game with some great mechanics, and I feel a bit guilty that I’ve not really played that much of it. This expansion might make me boot it up again. If you’ve not got enough cash to fork out for the expansion there’s a free upgrade coming out at the same time that adds improved AI, better balance, the new Spell Disjunction System, Steam Workshop support and Cloud Save functionality.
