The long, long, long development of DayZ is expected to pay off with a ‘full version’ of the survival game in the first half of 2016, says team behind it at Bohemia Interactive.
They’ve reached an ”important project milestone” having been in Early Access for a year on Steam. The road map for DayZ has been laid out through 2015 with diseases next year.
It’s important to remember that DayZ began as a mod for ArmA II but eventually was picked up by Bohemia Interactive to become something more official, which meant being reworked as a standalone release that could support itself independent of the simulator it was based off.
Naturally this transition was painful but also necessary in the long term.
”Having completed our first year of Early Access development, we have reached an important project milestone,” blogs the DayZ team. ”Looking forward into the opportunities and obstacles of the coming year, we would like to share our plans and goals for 2015.”
”These plans change over time, and internally the team has reviewed our progress this year against where we want DayZ to be at 1.0. Compiling this data we have completed a light roadmap based on our experience with the project for the upcoming year, and this is a taste of exciting things to come that we can look forward to.” The price of DayZ will increase as time goes on.
The price of DayZ on Steam will increase once the Autumn sale concludes to €27.99 / $34.99.
