Grab your badge and your gun, because Visceral’s cops and robbers shooter Battlefield: Hardline is on the way to PC and consoles on March 17, 2015 in North America and March 19 in Europe.
DICE’s Vincent Vukovic revealed the news in a blog post yesterday. Hardline’s second open Beta is set for next January.
We already know about Hardline’s multiplayer component, which has been bolstered recently by the addition of the vehicle-heavy Hotwire mode seen in the trailer above, but Vukovic also gave us a brief synopsis of the singleplayer campaign:
“In a crime drama filled single player story, Miami is embroiled in a drug war and officer Nick Mendoza has just made detective. Alongside his partner, veteran detective Khai Minh Dao, he follows the drug supply chain from the streets to the source. In a series of increasingly off-the-books cases the two detectives come to realize that power and corruption can affect both sides of the law.”
Rookie cop teams up with jaded veteran to take down a drug empire. Yeah, not exactly the height of originality there, but it will be interesting to see Visceral tackle a non-military story.
We’ll see if the extra time Hardline’s had in development pays off next March. It was originally due out this October, but feedback from the first open Beta back in June persuaded EA and Visceral to delay the release in order to add more polish and new features.
