Bioware’s experimental world state transfer system Dragon Age Keep is now live in open Beta, giving you the chance to prep yourself for next month’s Dragon Age: Inquisition.
You’ll note I didn’t mention save games there. That’s because the Keep doesn’t require your old files, but instead invites you to recreate your story by running through a list of recapped moments from across the series, picking the responses your hero chose.
Probably a good thing, because I imagine there’s plenty of fans out there that don’t have their save files anymore. If you have a Bioware social account, you can upload the read-only information stored online to fill in some of the choices for you - beware though, you may want to quickly run through to make sure everything’s correct.
I’ve been fiddling with the Keep, and I noticed a few occasions where the Keep picked the wrong choice for my character. You can change this fairly easily, but if you’re a stickler for verisimilitude, you’ll want through the various options with a fine-tooth comb. Uploading multiple world states (yes, some of us have played an embarrassing amount of Dragon Age) seems a bit clunky at the moment. Be careful when you save a particular state, because it’s easy to accidentally overwrite your decisions in others.
You can check out the Dragon Age Keep here, by signing up through your Origin account. Dragon Age: Inquisition is out on November 18, so you’ve got a while to get your backstory sorted.
