Square Enix has announced that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on February 23, 2016. The company has also revealed so much pre-order DLC for the cyberpunk sequel that it makes my brain ache.
Basically, there are four pre-order tiers for the game. The more people that put down their cash early, the more extra content is unlocked. Bonuses include a new mission, extra costumes, soundtracks and – in something of a first, I think – an early release of the game. Yep, the game will drop four days earlier if enough people pre-order it.
Square has also revealed the contents of the game’s Collector’s Edition; basically everything for the pre-order tiers I mentioned above, plus an Adam Jensen figure, steelbook case and 48-page artbook.
It’s all a bit exhausting. I’m honestly excited for Mankind Divided, but this endless parade of DLC extras, and especially the way they’re gating them off if we don’t buy in early, just makes me feel jaded – probably not the reaction that Square Enix was looking for. I mean, “Augment Your Pre-Order”? Hmm.
