Just Cause developer Avalanche’s video game adaptation of Mad Max will be released this September, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has announced.
Given that a certain other highly anticipated action title is on the way at the same time, it’s surely going to be an interesting launch for the game.
Now I love Just Cause, so I hope Avalanche is bringing its open world A-game to the post-apocalyptic racer. A recent Game Informer magazine exclusive revealed some concrete details regarding how the game play, and left me feeling pretty positive.
Apparently survival is a big deal, and Max needs to scavenge enough food and water to live on from bandit supplies, rodents, and even maggots. Lovely. Max can go outside the boundaries of the game map into an area known as The Big Nothing in search of rare items, but there he’ll have to contend with extreme weather and a lack of water or food.
On-foot combat utilises a flowing, rhythmic style similar to the Arkham games, while you can also collect and upgrade various vehicles in a garage accessed from the pause menu.
Mad Max will be released on PC and consoles this September 1.
