Ghost Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming Need for Speed reboot, and it’s all very hip and cool, daddy-o. Now observe as I awkwardly talk about how you build ‘Rep’ in the game, like a 56-year old headmaster doing an anti-drugs rap in the school assembly.
Right, so it goes like this. Money is indeed important for buying new cars to race illegally around the city at night, but to get ”VIP access to new events, cars and upgrades,” you’ll need to impress people by winning races and gaining Reputation points, or ’Rep’ points.
It’s not just crossing the finish line first that will earn you that Rep. There are five categories in the game, Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw. The first two are fairly self-explanatory, drive fast or pop lots of silly stunts and you’ll net points. Build is judged by how your car is kitted out and painted up, and Crew is earned by taking part in team races. Finally, Outlaw points are earned by messing with and racing the cops.
So there you go. Remember when driving games used to actually be about driving cars? Need for Speed is out this November.
