The return of the Hearts of Iron series will have to wait a bit longer as Paradox Development Studios reveal that Hearts of Iron IV won’t be out in Q2 2015. They’ve got a ”a large milestone” to clear before announcing a new schedule.
According to studio manager Johan Andersson they ‘don’t have an approved alpha’ yet for the grand strategy, but when they do they’ll ”start with weekly” developer diaries.
Their last dev diary looked at the new approach to naval forces and how they interacted with theatres of war. They behave similarly to how air forces work, by assigning them specific theatres to operate in with set missions to undertake.
”Hearts of Iron IV is looking very solid and we are confident that it will become the next Paradox Development Studio flagship title. It’s a very ambitious project and we want to give it the time it needs to become the game we, and probably many of you, envisioned.”
”We’re sorry if we’ve disappointed you with not being able to keep the Q2 release date (we’re of course a bit disappointed too!), yet we strongly believe this course of action will lead to the best possible end result,” announced Jakob Munthe, brand manager.
Hearts of Iron IV releases on PC later this year. Check out the highlights of the new political mechanics below from a live stream back in mid-January 2015.
