What made me laugh about this Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord trailer, which shows off actual in-game footage for the first time, is that it spends a good couple of minutes stubbornly showing an extended spot of board-gaming. Which is probably not what most M&B players are looking for, really.
Aside from games of tic-tac-toe in your local inn, the sequel to TaleWorlds’ open world combat strategy/RPG hybrid adds siege weapons, weapon crafting, seasonal weather conditions and a pretty cool replay editor.
The new graphics engine is looking very pretty indeed, and the addition of catapults and battering rams should make extended fortress sieges somewhat less of a hassle than they were in the first game. It’s a tempting first glimpse at the game, which was first revealed back in 2012.
There’s still no word on a potential release date.
