The next Mirror’s Edge game will have something to do with the words ’Mirror’s Edge Catalyst’, according to an official tweet and an EA-registered trademark.
Yes, I’m aware that’s not a hugely specific revelation. The trademark EA secured covers ”computer game software; downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices; video game software,” which suggests we might be looking at a subtitle for the upcoming sequel.
It also, however, covers; ”Entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game; Provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet.” Which means we could be dealing with some kind of Ubisoft-esque supporting app. Maybe it’s an exercise app that encourages you to lose wright by shimmying across rooftops and drop-kicking enemy guards in the kneecaps.
It could also be another, desperate game entirely. Perhaps a mobile port. Or a Telltale game. I got partway through writing that last sentence when I realised I wasn’t sure if I was actually joking.
We do know that there is definitely a Mirror’s Edge 2 on the way next year, but we know little about it. The conceptual teaser trailer below, released at E32013, looks very much like the original game.
