Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 might not be heading back to 1940’s America, but its Zombies component certainly is; though it’s not zombified Nazis we’ll be blowing up, but undead flapper girls and wiseguys.
Called Shadows of Evil, the campaign is described by Treyarch as a “gritty 1940s film-noir narrative”, with four playable classes. One of whom is played by Jeff Goldblum. Seriously.
In fact, as you’d expect, it’s quite a cast; Jeff Goldbum is The Magician, Heather Graham is the Femme Fatale, Ron Perlman is The Boxer, and Neil McDonough is The Cop. This ragtag group of heroes comes together to mutilate zombies and complete challenges handed out by the mysterious Shadow Man, who sounds like somebody who’s definitely not to be trusted.
Weapons will be period-specific, though there’s a few curveballs thrown in there too, including samurai swords and, according to Polygon, “a rocket-powered riot shield”. Perks will be handed out by a Pack-A-Punch gumball machine. Treyarch’s clearly embracing the insanity.
The developer will also remake classic Zombies map Der Riese, which will be titled The Giant and will be made available as part of several as-yet unannounced limited editions and pre-order offers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6 for PC and consoles.
