It’s become a somewhat infamous exploit for wasteland wanderers that don’t like to play by the natural rules of economics, but the infinite cap glitch in Fallout 4 certainly caught the attention of Bethesda as well. Users are reporting that the glitch no longer works on any platform as of the patch.
We covered the infinite cap glitch as it was discovered shortly after Fallout 4’s release. Players use to be able to use an intricate exploit of the barter system to keep a single ammo that they could sell infinitely to a vendor, clearing them of caps and merchandise if users so pleased. This glitch was confirmed on PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game.
Unfortunately for users who capitalized on this glitch, it was quite famous and Bethesda squashed it in their recently released patch of the game on all platforms. Users are confirming on PC, PS4, and Xbox One that the glitch no longer works. It won’t be such a big deal for PC players who don’t mind risking using console commands, but for anyone that was becoming reliant on this happy little millionaire-making mistake of the game… well, guess you’ll just have to earn caps the old fashion way.
Fallout 4’s extensive patch went live yesterday, December 8. Besides handling this glitch, the patch went out to fix a ton of bugs and performance issues and add some new improvements, the extensive notes of which can be found here.
