Just as was promised, Evolve developer Turtle Rock will release two free maps for the multiplayer monster-hunter this April, Broken Hill Foundry and Broken Hill Mine.
The two new levels will support all of Evolve’s game modes, including the narrative Evacuation campaign - the latter comes with some ”pretty sweet new Evacuation campaign effects”, according to the devs.
Broken Hill Mine takes place in an abandoned series of mining tunnels, featuring a rock quarry, a venom hound nest, and a zone with a massive conveyor belt. There are several destructible points that allow the monster player to ambush the hunters, while the cramped tunnels encourage stealth and close-quarters fighting.
Broken Hill Foundry is set in an industrial complex with a three-tier warehouse section and a network of cramped streets and rooftops. Crates of ‘bohrium’, found throughout the facility, can be eaten by the monster, though cracking them up is rather noisy and may lead the hunters right to him.
Both of the new maps will be available for free, and after a month’s exclusivity period on Xbox One, they’ll shoot over to PC on April 30. Turtle Rock is demoing them over on its Twitch channel today at 3pm PDT. The studio’s taken a bit of stick for its pre-order policies with Evolve, but it’s a nice thing to see them hand out some free content to their player base. Expect more free maps down the line.
