In a new FAQ blog post, Star Wars Battlefront developer DICE has answered some pressing question from the fans. One thing that’s been confirmed by community manager Mathew Everett is that the PC version will not have a split-screen mode.
That’s not entirely surprising, but it does mean that you won’t be able to plug a couple of controllers in and use your PC as a gaming console. Any multiplayer you want to jump into will have to take place across a LAN or internet connection.
Other tidbits of info include the fact that the venerable Y-Wing bomber isn’t actually flyable, and will instead be used as a support vehicle that you can call into battle. Which is slightly disappointing, but then again anyone’s who’s flown one in the likes of X-Wing Alliance will know they handle like a giant metal bathtub. Everett did explain how players will utilise the vehicles in the game that they can drive.
”In Walker Assault, vehicles are tied to the power up system. When you find a vehicle power up on the map, you will need to activate it, which immediately spawns you inside the vehicle. Vehicle power ups specifically must be used within a certain amount of time. This is a design decision to allow more equal distribution of the vehicle power ups amongst all players.
So basically they don’t want there to be a massive queue outside the X-Wing hangar. Star Wars: Battlefront launches on November 17 for PC and console.
