The word for Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC and PS4 has always been that they would be coming in early 2016. What month or day that was has been an entirely unknown factor, but it’s possible Amazon France may have let slip a hint of when we can expect the game to arrive.
The French regional site of the worldwide online retailer had a placeholder up for pre-orders of the Rise of the Tomb Raider PC edition and today a date came up on the site, giving the PC port a release date of January 29.
This is probably little more than what the page itself is, a placeholder. January 29 is very, very close and Rise of the Tomb Raider is a high-profile title for Square Enix. It seems incredibly unlikely that the company would choose a date only a month and a half out and not make its own announcement to the general public. This is, after all, the same company that announced a trailer for the beta of Hitman which then announced that the Beta would be coming February 19, 2016. The company isn’t known for letting things sneak up. Then again, it could just as well be a slip of communication that wasn’t supposed to happen just yet.
Either way, Rise of the Tomb Raider is out for Xbox One now and will be coming to PS4 and PC sometime early in 2016. Maybe January 29. Maybe not. We’ll keep you posted.
