The Walking Dead game currently in development at Overkill Software will be ”Payday-esque,” said franchise creator Robert Kirkman at a SXSW panel over the weekend.
Kirkman also revealed that The Walking Dead will be an online co-operative game, and will be set in a bigger world than Overkill’s heist thriller.
”I can say that it will be Payday-esque because [Starbreeze and Overkill] are currently doing Payday,” Kirkman confirmed. ”But I’m told it will be in a bigger world than Payday currently encompasses. They are going to be learning a lot of stuff from Payday that they will be incorporating into The Walking Dead game.”
Kirkman went on to exclusively reveal that the game won’t be ”crappy”, like most IP adaptations are. I’m looking at you, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. He also said that Overkill would start talking about the project, which we don’t have a release schedule for just yet, very soon.
