Action MMO Tera has received a new update today which is aimed at making the game easier to get into for new players. The update adds a new starting area, an improved character creation system, a new character selection screen, expanded character names and updated chat channels.
According to publisher GameForge, the new start area, Stepstone Island, ”will host players taking their first steps on the journey through Arborea between levels one and eleven.” The former start area, the Isle of Dawn, will be removed, and players still on the Isle will be teleported to Stepstone, with their ongoing quests still intact.
Veteran players will have a reason to visit as well. Stepstone Island is besieged by the argons. Players who have already arrived in the capital Velika can fly back on a pegasus to combat the invaders.
The character creation has also had a ”comprehensive overhaul”, states GameForge. It will feature more tooltips and instructional videos to give players an idea of what they can do with their PC. The character page has also been updated for veteran players, giving them information such as the last guild missions they’d run and other vital stats.
Chat channels have also been updated, with an improved tabbed interface, along with other tweaks to the system. For example, Looking For Group channels can be restricted to only show messages from players four levels difference from the player.
