According to sources at IGN, Julien Merceron, Konami’s Worldwide Technology Director has left the Japanese publisher. Merceron joined Konami in 2013 after stints with Eidos, Crystal Dynamics, IO Interactive and Square Enix and was the man in charge overseeing the development of the Fox Engine, which is the beating heart of MGSV: The Phantom Pain and PES 2016.
Speculation of further instability is inevitable after the year that Konami have had following the cancellation of Silent Hills, announcing a mobile-centric focus, Hideo Kojima leaving and rumours surrounding Konami’s treatment of employees. It is important to stress that Konami have not made an official statement regarding Merceron and that it’s unclear if Merceron has indeed resigned or has been fulton extracted by a rival publisher.
