5th Cell, the creative minds behind Drawn to Life and Scribblenauts, have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Fig for a new IP in development. The game is called Anchors in the Drift, and it’s an action-RPG game with a collectible card element to it. The game will be free to play, with things such as card packs that can be earned by in-game currency or bought with real money.
The game is set in a universe where time has been splintered by an interdimensional empire, bringing islands of different civilizations and times into one battlefield. Players can choose between a number of different characters which span different nationalities and historical themes, such as a viking warrior or a feudal samurai. These are known as anchors.
The twist is in the cards. Each card offers a different usable ability for a character and multiple cards can be equipped to a character in specific order to create unique abilities. The video showcases just a couple examples of how this will work, but the possibilities for building any given character seem unique and extensive.
The game is expected to release in late Summer 2016.
