Fable Legends is a co-operative role-playing video game, and Lionhead Studios’ latest attempt to breathe some life into the Fable series, which has sort of lurched between ‘okay’ and ‘a bit rubbish’ ever since its inception.
It was announced during Microsoft’s Windows 10 event yesterday that the game will support cross-platform play between Xbox One and PC.
This is part of Microsoft’s ongoing campaign to both be taken seriously by PC gamers, and link Windows ever closer to the Xbox Live service. To be fair, the video above showing off some in-game action does look rather nice. But that’s always been the problem with Fable hasn’t it? It looks great in theory, then falls apart in practice. Still, there’s some powerful tech behind those cartoonish good looks.
“Having DirectX 12 combined with the Unreal 4 engine we’re using for Fable Legends gives us all the power we need to deliver a truly amazing-looking Albion,” says studio head John Needham.
Fable Legends will be released later this year on both PC and Xbox One.
