Actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus, who played ex-nurse and resistance member Anya Oliwa in MachineGames’ excellent Wolfenstein: The New Order, let slip in a video interview that she is set to work on a sequel to the alternate history shooter.
She didn’t specifically mention the Wolfenstein name, but according to Gamepressure she said that she has played previous entries in the series and enjoyed shooting Hitler. Which sort of narrows things down a bit. Here’s the relevant exchange:
TVN: Apart from the movie, on set of which we are now, are there any professional challenges waiting ahead of you?
Alicja: Yes, I’m still working on a computer game; I already did the first part, now we’re working on the second one, and it will take roughly two years.
TVN: You’re obviously doing it in the US?
Alicja: Yes, we’re doing it in the US.
I don’t think the existence of a sequel is much of a surprise, considering the commercial and critical reception of The New Order and its standalone spin-off Old Blood. MachineGames created a terrific new world for granite-jawed hero B.J Blazkowicz to run around shooting people in, and I’m itching to see what they have in store for us next.
As Bachleda-Curus mentioned, the game will be in development for around two years, so don’t expect to hear much about it until 2017.
