The winds of change are blowing and Blizzard has given us all a preview to Patch 2.3.0 for Diablo III. There’s quite a bit on the menu and most notably is the addition of ‘Kanai’s Cube’, which looks to surpass the legendary Horadric Cube.
An overhaul of the crafting system is in the works too as they make it ”easier and more fluid” with our crafting mats ‘never wasted’ as items ”dynamically adjust” to our level. They’re cranking it all the way to Torment X.
New Legendary and Set Items are going to accompany these new difficulty levels which are there to test the mightiest veterans of the action RPG. We also get a new feature called ‘Season Journey’, which keeps track of our individual and apparently unique journey. It divides into Chapters and will provide tough challenges for hardened nephalem.
A new zone called Ruins of Sescheron is introduced as a frozen wasteland open for exploration. New enemies and ”perilous environmental hazards” await us. A blizzard perhaps? It’s here the new Kanai’s Cube lies to be discovered.
What is the new Kanai’s Cube?
”In Patch 2.3.0, players will be able to discover this powerful ancient relic and utilize its incredible potential, including the ability to break down Legendary items and equip their special effects as passive skills (which are separate from your other passive skills), convert crafting materials from one type to another, and so much more.”
Our huge hoard of ‘lower level’ crafting mats should also get more use.
”Starting in Patch 2.3.0, the same crafting mats you use at max level will be available as you level up! We’ve also crunched down the number of crafting recipes, making the process easier and more fluid than ever as your results now dynamically adjust to your character’s level.”
