Star Wars: Battlefront is turning heads for certain and is turning out to be the greatest game launch in the history of the Star Wars franchise, as well as the strongest digital launch in EA’s history. An open letter from Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios expressed gratitude, but also hinted at plans for free DLC outside of ‘Battle for Jakku’.
The letter was left on the Star Wars: Battlefront official website, profusely thanking players for their support in the first week of the game’s launch. It goes over details of the upcoming ‘Battle for Jakku’ DLC, but more importantly, Söderlund mentions in the letter after going over the upcoming Jakku DLC that the Battlefront team will be “adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass.”
It’s certainly an interesting announcement, and while Söderlund left out any details outside of the addition of maps and Star Cards, it’s certainly worth taking notice of continuous future free DLC. Certainly it might be cause of joy among the many players who aren’t interested in spending $50.00 on the Battlefront Season Pass. It would appear EA intends to deliver continuously outside of premium paid content for the game.
Star Wars: Battlefront is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The now apparently first of free DLC, ‘Battle for Jakku’ will be available on December 1st for players who pre-ordered Battlefront
