The folks working on XCOM 2 have been generous with screen shots and information in a series detailing the battlefields and mechanics of the game thus far. In the latest entry of the series, we get to explore small towns that will be the mid point between congested cities and open wilderness.
Small towns are indeed the middle ground of enemy presence and open terrain. These areas aren’t as populated by ADVENT forces as in the large cities where their main bases of operation and control are. Neither, however, are these areas as free as the wilderness. The ADVENT still run their propaganda machine here and these towns are scoured by armed forces patrolling the streets.
These places are idyllic worlds where humanity has attempted to strive outside the full control of ADVENT and maintain old ways of life, yet not off the grid like in the shelters that dot the wilderness zones where resistances defy the ADVENT altogether. These are meant to be the very middle ground of player combat experiences, havens of unfettered humanity that the XCOM unit are trying to save.
Players will bring salvation to masses in XCOM 2 when it releases on February 5th on PC.
