Some meaty chunks of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 info leaked over the weekend, along with the official launch of the game’s reveal trailer, shedding some light on what to expect from Treyarch’s futuristic shooter.
Discovered by the eagle-eyed chaps over on NeoGAF, a promotional pamphlet for the game promises a new movement system similar to Advanced Warfare’s, a revised ‘Specialist’ system for multiplayer, and full four-player co-op support for the main campaign.
The campaign will also expound on the customisation options found in Black Ops 2, offering what sounds like an array of option to match those found in the multiplayer mode – you’ll be able to choose weapons, loadouts, abilities and outfits for your character, all of which will feature progression systems and personalisation options.
That goes for the inevitable Zombies mode too, which also features full XP progression and “its own distinct storyline right out of the box”. Two whole campaigns in one game? Yep, that appears to be what Treyarch is offering here. Colour me intrigued.
As for the new movement system, Treyarch calls it a “momentum-based, chained-movement” system, which allows players to combine jumps, hurdles, slides and wall mantling. Maps are apparently designed to encourage more acrobatic movement. Just like Titanfall, basically. Or Advanced Warfare again. Man, these near-future settings kind of all blend together, don’t they?
The new Specialist system will run alongside familiar traditional XP and weapon progression, allowing players to choose from several characters with unique active skills, giving them “three different ways to rank up”. VG247 has profiled four of those Specialists; explosive bow-wielding Outrider, robot-with-minigun Reaper, handgun expert Seraph, and melee inclined Ruin. There will be a total of nine Specialists available in the base game.
So there you go, Zombies, MP, and a new co-op ready Campaign mode. Sounds like Black Ops 3 will offer plenty of bang for your buck when it drops this November 6. According to the trailer above there will be a multiplayer beta sometime before then, open only to pre-order customers.
