Some details finally dropped today the first bit of Battlefront DLC, Outer Rim. The add-on will bring new maps, new heroes, and a new game mode to the galaxy far, far away.
Those maps will include the industrial areas of Sullust and Jabba’s palace on Tatooine. You’ll be able to play as iconic heroes like the secret hero of the Battle of Endor, Nien Nunb, or everyone’s (fifth or sixth) favorite bounty hunter, Greedo. Regardless of your feelings toward the special editions, I still recommend shooting first when playing as the Rodian.
The new mode is called Extraction. ”Rebel forces have entered some of the most dangerous places in the Outer Rim in order to extract a valuable shipment of resources. Now they must bring the shipment to their transport ship before time runs out. The Empire has arrived to stop them from reaching the extraction point.”
EA’s been holding off on releasing paid content while they brought in some more free updates, and that’s probably for good reason. The initial game was, according to our review and many others, lacking in content, and immediately pushing out add-ons through a $50 season pass would’ve certainly rubbed some players the wrong way.
We don’t know exactly when the expansion will drop, but it’s expected sometime this month.
