InXile Entertainment have finally launched their crowdfunding campaign for Wasteland 3 on Fig with a minimum goal of 2.75 Million dollars. The third installment of the cult series is set to be the most ambitious one to date. The new crowdfunding platform Fig allows potential backers to not only donate but also to invest in the project itself meaning that people can have equity in the project.
Set in the now frozen wastelands of Colorado, the game promises a revamp and refocus of mechanics including an engaging story utilizing a newly-revamped dialog tree system. The game is set to feature co-op play and the project itself seems to be taking a serious page from the success of Larian Studio’s Divinity Original Sin.
Inxile state that the game is set to be all about choices with options opening and closing depending on your choices. Adding to this is synchronous or asynchronous multiplayer as well as an improved combat system with environmental dangers. Wasteland 3 could be set to become a big hit in the RPG market.
Early backers will get exclusive rewards and the project has already amassed almost half of its funding goal. One of the most exciting features is vehicle combat that is showcased in a brief 2-minute video. The trailer shows a marked improvement in the overall graphical quality compared to the dated looking Wasteland 2. If the final product is as good as the trailer seems to suggest it could be, it is certainly one to look out for.
